Kelsey graduated from the four-year program at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2006 with a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine. During her studies, she assisted in teaching the third year class ‘Acupuncture Treatment for Sports Injuries and Physical Trauma’. In this class she helped to demonstrate the combination of contemporary acupuncture points (similar to IMS), with traditional acupuncture points based on a Chinese medicine diagnosis. These techniques proved to be very powerful in treating all types of injury, and many other common ailments. This course fueled her interest in sports medicine, and the amazing benefits that could be gained from using acupuncture. She continued to expand her knowledge by attending many courses specific to sports medicine acupuncture, and employs the use of TuiNa(Chinese medical massage), acupressure, and cupping in her practice as well. Since practicing in many great communities all around BC including Whistler, Victoria, and Vancouver, she has settled in nicely with the fantastic team at Optimum. During her career she has had the honor of treating Hollywood stunt doubles, CFL players, MMA Fighters, Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and some of the best weekend warriors in the world!
With now over 10 years of experience she has found a great passion in helping people recover from injury and getting back to doing the activities that they love. In 2012 she became certified in Trigger Point Injection Therapy. This has added an exciting new dynamic to her practice and been great for treating stubborn injuries and magnifying the positive effects of a traditional acupuncture treatment. She remains in excellent standing with her college and governing body, The CTCMA.
In her spare time she enjoys snowboarding, photography, and spending time with her family (and crazy dog) in the great outdoors.
